Al-Amri lost his pregnant wife Sharifa Subhi, daughters Munira and Saliha, aged 14 and 16, eight-year-old son Khalid, and his 50-year-old brother-in-law Sidran. “At the time of the fire we also had guests, relatives who had come from Riyadh for the marriage of my brother-in-law's son to the daughter of one of our relatives,” Al-Amri said. “I was outside the house with my cousin, and when I returned I saw thick smoke and flames coming from my house. I shouted for help from the neighbors and called the Civil Defense. The neighbors demolished part of the wall and remove the air-conditioners to get my family out of the fire. We got my wife out, but she died of severe burns.” Al-Amri had a second family in another section of the house who left as soon as they smelled smoke. All eight escaped unhurt and are now staying with neighbors. Al-Amri said only three of his first family survived: 22-year-old Saleh, who was at work; Mit'eb, 18, who was in a room unaffected by the fire, and the youngest daughter Noura, who is currently receiving treatment at Al
