The Appeals Court Saturday upheld a verdict issued by Judge Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Shithri of Jeddah District Court in a case known as the “egg investments” to implement the discretionary penalty of 13 years in jail for a Yemeni laborer convicted of conning others, deception and squandering SR250 million owed to the investors. The verdict also imposed a fine of SR1 million to be paid by the man, confiscation of all his money and property until he pays back the investors' rights and 50 lashes of the whip, to be carried out in 20 installments. Authorities have also been instructed to determine how much money the man has in his possession and confiscate it. The verdict also included maintaining the demand to fulfill the private right, so the man commits to paying back the investors' money he collected under the pretext of investing it in the purchase and sale of eggs. The verdict has become final, binding and should be implemented. The authorities concerned with implementing the verdict will soon be informed about the details. Okaz/Saudi Gazette has learnt that the court would enumerate the number of investors in the scheme. __
