JEDDAH: On the second day of the Summer Talents Program 2011, organized by King Abdul Aziz University in cooperation with King Abdul Aziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, talented Saudi students learned how to use nanotechnology to purify polluted water. In the morning, students were trained to use nanotechnology, prepare an X-ray machine and do advanced programming, while in the evening, they heard a lecture on robotic technology. The program, which continues for 21 days, includes seminars and lectures to hone talented students' skills, along with time to practice sports such as swimming, horse riding and football. More than 60 talented students were keen to benefit from the summer program and learn more about nanotechnology; the school has nanotechnology research centers run by experts and specialists in this field. “This program aims to educate talented students about nanotechnology and strengthen the principle of research and creativity in them in order to contribute to increasing their knowledge, a goal King Abdullah seeks to accomplish,” said Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Habeeb, general supervisor of the program.
