On the occasion, Eng. Saud Bin Majid Al Daweesh, STC Group CEO, said in a statement issued Sunday that Saudi Telecom Co., as the sponsor for the second consecutive year, is an "affirmation of its (STC) commitment to social responsibility programs, and a continuation to take part in all national events and support activities that contribute to development of the local economy based on the Kingdom's development plans." Al Daweesh noted the "development and prosperity that the Eastern Province is witnessing under the continuous care and guidance of Prince Mohammed Bin Fahad Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of the Eastern Region." On STC's role in community service, Al-Daweesh said "we did not stop investing in infrastructure and the unique telecommunications and information services we offer our clients everywhere, but we also commit to serving members of our community where the Group took the initiative to roll out and adopt several programs and activities especially for this to this noble objective." Al Daweesh also highlighted STC's contributions in the Eastern Region which reached 42 key initiatives in health, education, training, recruitment and charitable works. This included the establishment of two primary care centers launched and operated under Al Wafa Program in Al Tuwaither Healthcare Center in Al Ahsa and Al Theebiyah Healthcare Center in Hafr Al Batin. STC has built a highly advanced telecommunications infrastructure for a developed telecommunication network considered the most advanced in the world, he noted. "Today, STC is introducing integrated telecommunications services and broadband services at high speeds for all types of users including governmental or commercial sectors, individual and homes services. The Company was the first to introduce the 3G quick services and the fiber optic services," he said. "We are the only company that offers comprehensive packages of voice, internet and digital TV services and we will continue to extend the FTTH network to residential areas and homes and will soon introduce the 4G LTE services. These achievements come at a time when the Group is winning key international awards and accolades placing it as one of the top 20 telecommunications companies in the world with operations in more than in 10 countries, with more than 140 million customers and increasing its revenues from SR32 billion in 2006 reaching SR51 billion by the end of 2010," Al Daweesh noted.
