The total number of Saudi Telecom Co. (STC) Group subscribers has surpassed 160 million customers all over the world, CEO of STC Group Eng. Saud bin Majed Al-Daweesh said in a reception held at Four Seasons Hotel Sunday. Al-Daweesh pointed out that the various phases the group has undertaken group and have managed to succeed – starting from privatization trend which re-imaged the local industry, yet eventually making record results in few years – down competitiveness and globalization thrust. The CEO of STC Group considered these successes as the main factor behind the sound financial standing of the group, as its revenues grew to SR56 billion by the end of 2011 from only SR34 billion five years ago. The STC Group profitability have similarly grown to SR20 billion from SR16 billion in the period. These achievements helped STC Group a lot to gain a prestigious position on the world telecommunications' giants map, as it ranks as the 14th biggest operator all over the world, Al-Daweesh said. Notwithstanding, he said STC Group ambition is still to find a place among the list of the biggest 10 giant operators of that world map. Al-Daweesh put the number of STC Group subscribers at more than 160 million customers all over the world, with only 34 million customers in the domestic market, from a total of 18 million customers in 2006. Furthermore, he said the group coverage of 4G network will surpass 65 percent in the different regions of the Kingdom by the end of 2012, and to 90 percent by the end of 2014, adding that STC Group will interconnect more than half a million houses with FTTH technology by the end of 2012, then to more than 1 million houses by the end of 2014.
