Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Majed, Emir of Madina Region, inspects new fans in the courtyards of the Prophet's Mosque for Ramadan this year. (SPA) MADINA: Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Majed Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of Madina Region, inspected several Central Area projects surrounding the Prophet's Mosque here, Wednesday. He first toured the SR111 million southwestern junction of King Faisal Road and Al-Salam Road which comprises a main bridge and ascent and descent ramps along King Faisal and Abubakr Al-Siddiq roads. He then checked the intersection between King Fahd and King Faisal roads which includes tunnels, entrance and exit descents and three pedestrian passages. The emir also inspected the tunnel project leading to the Haram parking lots from the eastern side at the intersection between King Abdul Aziz and King Faisal roads. Prince Abdul Aziz then checked the Haram fans project, which aims to cool the air in the courtyards of the Prophet's Mosque using water spray. The project will be ready for the holy month of Ramadan this year. The project comprises 436 fans fitted on the pillars holding up the canopies in the mosque's courtyards. Prince Abdul Aziz said the eastern expansion of the Prophet's Mosque is continuing and part of it would be ready by Ramadan. He added that the compensation for the owners of expropriated properties would have been paid by that time. He said the pedestrian promenades will play a major role in accommodating various services to the Central Area. Prince Abdul Aziz said electronic clocks would be installed showing the number of days remaining for the completion of each project.
