RIYADH: French President Nicolas Sarkozy has awarded Huda Al-Jeraisy, Chairwoman of the Executive Council in the Women's Section at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), the medal “Baroness in the Order of the Legion of Honor”. This is to recognize her efforts and contributions to strengthen economic and investment relations between Saudi Arabia and France. Bertrand Besancenot, the French Ambassador to the Kingdom, informed Al-Jeraisy in a letter accompanying the medal, which was awarded after a recommendation from the embassy. He pointed out that the medal was awarded in terms of a decree issued on May 18. Abdul Rahman Bin Ali Al-Jeraisy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the RCCI, congratulated Al-Jeraisy on the honor. “It is part of our work to exert our utmost to boost cooperation and economic partnership between the Kingdom and different countries of the world, especially those that have big economies.” The RCCI chairman said good economic relations with other countries are part of the plans of the leadership led by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques; the Crown Prince and the Second Deputy Premier. Hussein Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Athel, Secretary General of the RCCI, was happy the award was given to Al-Jeraisy for her efforts to serve the businesswomen's sector and the Council of Saudi Chambers. He expressed his hope that her efforts would continue with the support and encouragement of the Kingdom's leadership. Al-Jeraisy said the medal was an honor and she was proud of being a Saudi citizen who has contributed to enhancement of cooperation and friendship between the Kingdom and France, one of the latter's biggest trade and investment partners. She said the medal was also an honor for her female colleagues in the Women's Section of the RCCI and for all businesswomen in the Kingdom. Al-Jeraisy has been the chairwoman of the Executive Council of the Women's Section of the RCCI for several years now and is the first person to occupy this post since its inception.
