MADINA: The Human Rights Commission (HRC) branch in Makkah region has started investigating claims from a Saudi woman that her ex-husband, and Arab expatriate, had tortured her daughter by forcing her to eat insects, lick floor tiles and brand her with an electric iron. Okaz/Saudi Gazette has learnt that Dr. Fathia Bint Hussein Al-Qurashi, Supervisor General of the women's section of the HRC Makkah region branch, received a letter from the woman employee. The woman had previously made the allegations to Okaz/Saudi Gazette. Al-Qurashi has now issued instructions to the HRC's women's legal department to investigate and follow-up on the case. In statements published in Okaz earlier, the woman had given details of her marriage to the Arab expatriate, their separation and how he had deprived her of seeing her daughter for a number of years. She said this forced her to secretly remove her daughter from her school in Jeddah and take her to live in Madina Region.
