JEDDAH: Jeddah Projects Cricket Club (JPCC) beat the favorite Hijaz-XI by one wicket and clinched the Kanoo Premier Cup title, while Zinda Tilismat of Hyderabad-XI got the 3rd position as they beat Jawar Al-Jazira Cricketers by 8 wickets The tournament was sponsored by the Kanoo Group of Companies and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA). Jeddah Projects Cricket Club won the toss and decided to field first against the favorites Hijaz-XI, the decision proved too good for the JPCC as Hijaz-XI collapsed for a low total of 130 all out in 18.1 of the 20 allotted overs. Hijaz-XI started well as they scored eleven runs per over in the first four overs but left arm medium pace bowler Rabbani dealt a blow to Hijaz-XI as he took the prize wickets of Wahaj and Ather Abdul Qudus with his intelligent swing bowling. Wajid scored the highest 29 followed by Ayaz 23, Wahaj 22, Naveed 17 and Baba Amoudi contributed 12 runs. Jawad took 3-25, Ahsan 2-17, Kaleem 2-17, Rabbani 2-20 and Mujahid 1-45. In reply JPCC made 131-9 in 19.4 overs and won the match by one wicket. Ahsan 38, Kaleem 24, Rabbani 20, Abid Parvez 18 and Hafeez 12 runs. Wahaj grabbed 3-28, Faheem Pasha 2-25 and Naveed 1-26. Ather was instrumental in making three run outs. In the second match of the day for the 3rd position of Premier Division, Jawar Al-Jazira batting first scored 239-3 in 18 overs against Zinda Tilismat-XI of Hyderabad. Shehzad scored 93, Shaan Manzoor 42, Amer Shehzad 40 and Adnan Butt scored 39. Sadathullah took 1-27, Abdullah 1-38 and Nazeer 1-52. Zinda Tilismat of Hyderabad-XI reached the target 240-2 in 15.4 overs. Irfan scored 124, Zaman 47, Javed Ahmed 26 and Nazeer had contributed 15 runs. Zahid grabbed 1-26 and Adnan Butt took 1-52. Zinda won the match by 8 wickets. The prize distribution function started with the recitation of the Holy Qur'an. Azizullah Shariff was the master of the ceremony for this occasion. JCA President Muhammad Iqbal congratulated the winners, runners-up and the participating teams. He lauded the JCA managing committee and volunteers for their efforts to organize such a event.
