Irfan hits another ton in Kanoo Cup

JEDDAH: Irfan hit yet another century on way to helping Zinda Tilismat beat ACE Travels by 24 runs in the 8th week action of Premier Division, sponsored by Kanoo Group of Companies and organized by Jeddah Cricket Association here.
In other encounters Babar Toor registered a 143-run win over Jawar Al-Jazira; Hijaz-XI downed Kanoo by 27 runs; and Jeddah Projects Cricket Club scored a three-wicket win over ex-champion Sultan Al-Abideen-XI.
The first match saw Zinda Tilismat of Hyderabad, India, take the strike first against Ace Travels and piling up 245-5 in its allotted 18 overs. Opener Irfan scored his third century when he hit 121 off 45 balls (15x4s & 7x6s). His partner Javed Ahmed hit a quick-fire 53 while Nazeer added 36 and Zaman 16. Syed Aleem 2-48, Akram 1-32 and Bilal 1-39 shone with the ball for Ace Travels.
Ace players started the chase well but could score only 221-4 in its allotted overs, thereby losing the match. Syed Aleem made 106 runs off 51 balls, Akram added 36, Rayees 12, Imran 11 and Anwar 10. Skipper Mohammad Sadathullah took 2-38 and fast bowler Nazeer 1-40 for Zinda Tilismat.
The second match saw Babar Toor beat Jawar Al-Jazira by 143 runs. Babar Toor batting first made 245-5 in 18 overs. Majid Bhatti made 69 runs, Adnan Butt 62, Imran 40, Zahid 12 and Rana Shahzad 10 not out. Saeed took 3-60 and Amir 1-53 for Jawar Al-Jazira. In reply Jawar Al-Jazira team was all out for 94 in 12.3 overs. Shan Manzoor with 27 was the highest scorer. Zahid added 16, Omar 14 and Zulfi 11 for Jawar. Rana Shahzad was the wrecker-in-chief for Babar Toor as he took 5-15, Majid Bhatti 2-27, Javed 1-10, Imran 1-11 and Akbar 1-22.
Another match saw JPCC beat Sultan Al-Abideen-XI by three wickets. SAACC-XI batting first made 160-5. Opener Guddu made 60 runs, Rahil 27 not out, Fakher 26 and Ahsan 18 not out. Asif took 2-38, Rabbani 1-26, Ahsan 1-29 and Mujahed 1-37 for JPCC.
In reply JPCC reached the target for the loss seven wickets in 17.4 overs. Yusuf 3-27, Irfan 2-31, Fakhar 1-34 and Faraz 1-36 were among the wickets for Sultan Al-Abideen-XI.
The last match in the league saw Hijaz-XI beat Kanoo by 26 runs. Hijaz-XI taking the strike first scored 220-4 in 18 overs. Sadath remained not out on 60, Wajid Samdani made 40, Naveed 37, Ayaz 31 and Talha 24 runs. Sami Khan 2-37 and Majid 2-40 picked up the wickets for Kanoo.
In reply Kanoo could reach only 194-6 in 18 overs. Najamuddin remained unbeaten on 75, Rashid Khursheed made 30, Junaid 20, Tabrez 19 and Sami Khan 13. Talha took 2-35, Naveed 2-45, Saeed Balm 1-37 and Faheem 1-39 for Hijaz
