JEDDAH: Police have arrested a man on charges of raping 13 girls after his most recent victim gave a positive recognition of the house where she was held by the suspect. Jeddah Police spokesman Misfir Al-Ju'aid told Al-Watan Arabic daily that investigations were still going on with the suspect, but that several of his victims had officially recognized him. “He still denies the charges made against him,” he said of the suspect, who he added was a married man and father of six children. According to testimonies, the rapist lured young girls into his car by offering them sweets and took them to different locations around the city of Jeddah. He acted at different times of day and used two vehicles to cover his tracks. Saudi Gazette reported last Monday that police had launched a hunt for the rapist of at least two girls, one aged six, the other nine. Police said the man targeted girls alone in market areas and wedding halls and that reports of instances bearing similar characteristics had been received from parents in the Jeddah districts of Al-Kandara, Al-Balad, Al-Jami'a and Al-Sharfiya. The man was also reported as having caused serious facial injuries to his victims.
