The Faculty of Engineering held its sixth annual Engineering Day from from May 24-25 at the King Faisal Conference Center, under the auspices of KAU President Professor Osama S. Tayyeb. According to Professor Abdulmalik Al-Junaidi, the faculty's dean, the program consisted of a number of events, including a job fair to provide a convenient location for job seekers to meet employers. Scientific meetings were also be held to go through research studies conducted by the students. A number of national companies, including the main sponsor Saudi Aramco, had been slotted to take part. The Engineering Day program included an engineering exhibition that showed some projects done by both undergraduate and graduate students as well as a practical program includes the provision of scientific discussion sessions. One noteworthy project was a solar-powered mobile phone which also acts as a car security system. This will definitely be of interest to automobile companies. The project won a prize at the event, along with an iron that had been fit with a unique safety feature.
