RIYADH: The forthcoming Saudi Energy, the Kingdom's leading energy trade fair is all set to highlight the latest equipment, services and the best world practices that help Saudi Arabia to formulate energy-efficient solutions and meet the country's growing demand for electricity, said a high-ranking official of Riyadh Exhibition Company (REC), the organizer of the show. Mohammed Al-Hussaini, REC Deputy General Manager said Saudi Energy 2011 is set to boost government and private sectors' collaboration on strategies to address growing local demand for energy, which is expected to reach 120 gigawatts by 2032. Al-Hussaini said over 300 exhibitors from 19 countries have already confirmed participation in the Saudi Energy, the 14th International Show for Electricity, Lighting, Power Generation, Water Technology, and HVAC that will open at Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center under the patronage of Abdullah Al-Hussayen, Minister of Water and Electricity, from May 29 to June 1, 2011. He said the exhibitors from countries that include Saudi Arabia, China, UAE, UK, Spain, Taiwan, India, Canada, Czech Republic, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkey and Germany will offer efficient solutions by showcasing the latest equipment, services and innovative technologies. “The increasing demand for electricity in Saudi Arabia due mainly to the highly-diversified industrial base that accounts for 61.9 percent of the Kingdom's GDP and a rapidly growing population,” said Al-Hussaini. He said Saudi Arabia is required to look for alternative energy options and tap multiple resources such as hydro, solar and nuclear energy. Al-Hussaini said the international conference on energy conservation entitled Saudi Energy Conservation (SEC 2011) will also be organized on the sidelines of Saudi Energy 2011. The conference will discuss on issues such as the legislations, strategies and projects that explore the efficient use of energy, he added. The conference will also highlight the techniques used to raise the efficiency of electricity and rationalize its use in public and private enterprises, he said.
