KUWAIT: Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation said Thursday that it signed an agreement and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Saudi Arabia in the domain of air transport services as a culmination of the bilateral talks between the two sides on May 23 and 24. The directorate said Friday that these talks led to signing by initials a bilateral agreement between the two countries in the field of air transport services as well as a MoU that included all the points that have been thrashed out, and were agreed upon. It added that the most salient points upon which the two sides agreed are increased the number of passenger weekly flights as well as those of cargo, allowing national carriers of both countries to launch flights to the Saudi city of Madina, and the trade cooperation among concerned airlines in both countries in order to facilitate the passengers traffic, and boost the bilateral trade exchange. "This agreement comes within the policy applied by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in order to strengthen the bilateral air ties with other countries," the statement quoted Nabil Al-Zamel, head of the Kuwaiti delegation, and Deputy Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, as saying. The agreement also aims at facilitating the flights of commercial aviation of both countries to further boosts the bilateral air transport. The accord is also a response to the demands made by the Kuwaiti national carriers on increasing flights to the Saudi airports.
