JEDDAH: King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, is determined to ensure the development of unplanned districts in the country, including in the cities of Makkah, Jeddah and Taif, said Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah and Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Unplanned Areas in the region. The Emir made the comment while presiding over the 9th meeting of the body's Executive Committee at his office in Jeddah, Tuesday. At the meeting he briefed the committee members on the measures taken to develop the unplanned districts in Makkah, in addition to the development of east Jeddah, and the studies conducted on developing the Ghulail and Petromin districts in Jeddah. He also updated them on the progress made at the centers of refuge in Jeddah; and discussed the final draft of the proposal to compensate owners of expropriated buildings in Jeddah and Makkah. He emphasized that the development of the unplanned areas in the region will solve crime and socioeconomic problems which have been affecting the residents for decades. He said the solution includes ensuring that everyone has proper labor and residence documents. He said the development will take place with the assistance of the private sector.
