RIYADH: The Ministry of Interior and the Security Committee at the Shoura Council plan to introduce a new system with one telephone number for emergency and security-related calls. The system will also allow the authorities to track a caller's location. The emergency calls will be fielded by the National Center for Emergency. The new system is being introduced at the orders of Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Premier and Interior Minister. Lt. Gen. Saad Bin Abdullah Al-Tewijiri, Director General of the Civil Defense, received in his office on Tuesday the committee members overseeing the initiative. They were led by Dr. Saud Bin Humyaid Al-Subai, who had earlier visited the Civil Defense Operation Room in Riyadh. Al-Tewijiri said the new system will allow the security authorities to respond quickly and also contribute to the country's peace and security. The unified operations and emergency center will have special rooms for operations, receiving reports, administration and crisis management. The center will be equipped with the latest telecommunications and geographic maps and systems to locate callers and how best to reach them.
