AHSA: The General Directorate of Health in Al-Ahsa has referred two allegedly negligent nurses, a male and female, working at the emergency unit of Prince Saud Bin Jalawi Hospital in Al-Ahsa, for further investigation. Hussein Al-Rawi, Director General of Health Affairs in Al-Ahsa, who conducted an inspection tour of the hospital, ordered the investigation because he allegedly found that the two nurses had mixed up the papers of two patients admitted to the emergency unit. He directed officials at the hospital to open an investigation into the Saudi male nurse and his Asian female supervisor. He said the health directorate does not tolerate any mistakes that may risk patients' lives, so tough measures will be taken against any person found to be negligent. Meanwhile, the Shariah Medical Committee in Makkah has adjourned the case of the four-month-old child who developed serious complications, including total paralysis and brain atrophy, after surgery. Badr Al-Rouqi, the child's lawyer said the medical team which performed the surgical operations on the child did not appear before the committee. The surgeon who performed the operation said in his testimony the four operations did not pose any threat to a child of his age.
