Fariqi, president of the Arab Organization for Traffic Safety, will be the keynote speaker at an international two-day symposium on road safety set to start here Saturday. The event, under the patronage of Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, Chairman of the Saudi Red Crescent Society, is being organized by Abdul Latif Jameel Company to spread awareness about road safety. Other speakers include Ayoub Qouz, president of International Organization for Prevention of Road Accidents; Dr. Mustafa Tayan from the World Health Organization; and Dr. Riyaz Musa from the United Nations. Experts will discuss topics such as safe migration routes, safe vehicles, use of safe service roads and accidents. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has prepared educational programs to reduce the risk of accidents and their impact on the economy and society. Last year approximately 32,000 road accidents were recorded in the Kingdom.
