Al-Bashir, the Sudanese problem and complex
Al-Riyadh Editorial
Published in Alriyadh on 11 - 04 - 2014

Sudan has become a hot fire line during the stage of Al-Bashir who joined internal battles that led to the separation of the South, the establishment of hostilities with Sudan neighbors, making Sudan a shelter for some Islamic terrorist members and a base for Iran, in addition to that he replaced the army force with militias that constituted deterrence and assassination force before any opposing party. Al-Bashir is famous by applying equivocations, abusing the contradictions of Sudan's internal condition and abandoning all the active categories in his country.
Al-Bashir established a friendship with Al-Tourabi and called him for establishing a cooperation after a long break between them. However, both characters are applying are applying the technique of maneuvering instead of the national trend, in addition the reconciliation occurred between the contradicted parties may not necessarily clear the disharmony between the components of the Sudanese nation. The past days have witnessed Al-Bashir's call for holding a national dialogue that creates an atmosphere of general reconciliation. However, considering previous events during which such project had been led towards failure; we do not believe that such dialogue is going to perform the role of a national coalition which widens the participations and ends the monopoly of power / authority.
The government represents a part in the problem and the reason behind it as it is the party the led to the burst of the war in Darfur and blocked any possibility for reaching a solution unless it is compatible with its orientation. Meanwhile, the distinguished Sudanese competencies have been immigrating everywhere as the functional opportunities have been provided to the government members, their relatives and friends and government supporters. Moreover, the Sudanese economy has been witnessing a massive crisis where agriculture and livestock have been witnessing a big deterioration.
Sudan's relationships with the Arab countries are almost unavailable. Sudan has no harmony or brotherly relationships with Egypt, especially if we consider that it has played a negative role in the issue of Nile water through approving the construction of Renaissance Dam which is being built by Ethiopia and that it has become an armament source for the terrorist members in Sinai, in addition to its vague relationships with the other Arab and African countries.
Internationally, Al-Bashir is on the list of the people judicially wanted due to his human and judicial violations committed in Sudan. Thus, his call for a national agreement may be due to feeling that the internal opposition is expanding to an extent which may overthrow the regime. This may be the reason behind al-Bashir's rapid move of establishing communication channels with his foes. However, exposing the problems clearly shall lead to the authority abandonment of monopoly or returning to the traditional familial parties which had proved useless as time surpassed such parties through the new generations which seek dealing with its time for gaining its advantages rather than its disadvantages that had been caused by the government which failed to surpass its old time.
Sudan is rich through its resources, popular assets and distinguished location. However, the coops executed by the military led to killing the first unique democratic regime and, thus, driving Sudan to its present condition. In this regard, Al-Bashir represented another addition to the deterioration of this country and isolating it away from its circumference. We do not believe that Al-Bashir is really willing to create a national harmony on the basis of actual participation in power his adoption of the policy of abusing the contradictions for stretching his influence rather than setting a national work plan which gathers all parties and powers without applying any partisan, sectarian or tribal classification.
