The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said Thursday it was not discussing a rescue-loan program with Spain. The assertion came ahead of a scheduled meeting Thursday between IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde and Spanish Deputy Prime Minister Soraya Saenz de Santamaria. 'The IMF is not drawing up plans that involve financial assistance for Spain. Nor has Spain requested financial support from the IMF,' spokesman Gerry Rice told reporters in Washington. The meeting between Lagarde and Saenz is 'to discuss recent economic developments in Spain and the euro-zone,' he said.
