Egypt is more important than all
Al-Riyadh's Editorial
Published in Alriyadh on 01 - 06 - 2012

Egypt had not been a field for a sectarian, tribal or religious conflict. It lived its life of poverty and prosperity, freedom and occupation with no social problems. The Nile river represented the secret behind its coherence and establishment of its various civilizations. The "ingenuity of the place", as defined by Jamal Hamdan, the genius author, in his great book, had an (effect of) unprecedented historical dimension & population and geographical analysis.
With the occurrence of 1952's coup; this country entered into the internal political conflicts as the parties had been resolved, freedom and judiciary had been restricted, the economical nerve had had been nationalized and put under state's authority control & all competencies had been laid off. During more than half a century; the patient and forgiving nation could not live under successive military authorities that produced the corruption, the poverty and carelessness about whatever related to the national development. Accordingly; the revolution rose as the objective and practical alternative as it was led by young men who do not belong to any party or authority except for the homeland that they sought to rescue out of its tragic reality.
Since 25th of January until today; Egypt has witnessed a smooth transitional case if compared with Libya and Yemen but the production machine, the productive economic cycle & the formation of an active security service were among the obstacles that that pushed the runners towards the Parliament & Presidency to make them in the core of their interests & to add them to their advertisements signs. However; the surprise of restricting the race between two candidates only, which are the representative of the "Muslim Brothers" Mr. Mursi and Shafiq led to restricting the presidency among these two and this step, itself, is the most important interval period for the future of Egypt.
One party of people considers that the islamization of the state's systems and public life is not acceptable for various reasons of which the most important is restricting the woman in her old scope which means the culture of isolation while the Copts party have their concern from the religious state and its effect on the future of coexistence between the religious communities.
Criticizers of Shafiq consider him a reproduction of the old regime through different tools and found what they could condemn him with from his declarations and meetings. Refusal here means cancelling the reasons and objectives of the revolution, which means that his arrival to the state's presidency shall lead to another new revolution that may open the doors for violence and tearing the social map.
There are characters in Egypt which are bigger and more important than the competitors and the homeland itself is bigger than everyone. In the case of the nervous and psychological tension; wisdom shall be a protection frame for the national unity where the only path shall be starting a serious dialogue sponsored by the courts, the army & society representatives who do not belong to conflict hotbeds. This should be followed by accepting citizens' choice in regard to their representatives after a transparent audit for the whole course of election process, in addition to avoiding the rumors that tear the national base or irritate the hearts for objectives that do not care for the national interests.
There are accusations, partisanships, fears & suspension about external roles that played a dishonest role. However; awareness of the Egyptian citizen shall decide the results as the past has ended when the first day of the revolution rose. The previous dictatorships cannot comeback and no party can monopolize the authority any more. Yet, the case remains subject to the common understanding, as it is the right of the nation to refuse or support and should accept the opinion of the majority due to that the present situation must be resolved by reason and wisdom, rather than the flowing emotions, for keeping Egypt secured and democratic.
