Volunteers start the charity campaign "Riyadh Twestival" in Riyadh in cooperation with Insan Association and collect more than 200 thousand riyal
Published in Alriyadh on 01 - 04 - 2011

Last Thursday, some young volunteers launched a campaign named "Riyadh Twestival" in cooperation with "Insan Association" regarding orphan sponsorship for life. It is a universal charity campaign launched to allow volunteers in any city to establish a charity campaign in the name of the city itself in cooperation with charity local bodies in order to start the campaign in this city. The most important thing is that cities participate to collect the largest amount of donations using the same tools to publish this charity work depending upon Twitter and other social communication sites in general. The amount of donation collected in "Riyadh Twestival" is 202132 riyal (two hundred thousand two thousand one hundred thirty two riyal). This amount is enough to sponsor three orphans for life. It exceeds the expected amount with threefold. All this ranked Riyadh at the top of donators list in this universal event before more than 200 cities such as Dubai, Doha, Toronto, Milan, London, Copenhagen, Vancouver, Seattle, Kuala Lumpur, Paris, Singapore, Washington, Sidney, New York and Beirut.
Many corporations contribute to this campaign such as Etisalat (KSA) which sponsored the campaign financially and logistically in addition to other companies which donate to and support this campaign. The athletes participated effectively such as Captain Khaled Al Zela'y (the Saudi player in Al Nasr team) support the campaign by publishing the news on social columniation sites and giving info about the campaign target and the ways of donation.
It is worth mentioning that "Riyadh Twestival" was launched for the first time in cooperation with Insan Association whereas they established "Insan Fund" which is a portfolio based on Islamic Shari'a to provide a fixed income to the association and the orphans as well. The donations made to this fund are alms according to the Advisory Opinion of Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Al Sheikh (KSA Mufti). This fund needs 60000 riyal to be established, and the annual income is 3000 riyal. At the age of maturity, another orphan is selected to be sponsored for life. For more information check this site:
