RIYADH: Insan Charity Association, which is devoted to the welfare of orphans in the Kingdom, is calling upon private sector companies to contribute to the well-being of underprivileged children in Saudi Arabia. Saleh Bin Abdullah Al-Yousuf, General Manager of the Insan Society for Orphans' Welfare, made the call after signing an agreement with leading companies that launched Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, under which the companies will sponsor the education of eight talented Saudi students. Under the agreement signed on Monday in Riyadh, Gulf Capital and Ma'arif for Education and Training companies will donate around SR500,000 to Insan Society for Orphans' Welfare aimed at providing a better education for underprivileged children. After the signing ceremony, Al-Yousuf said the support coming from companies will allow the charity to do more for orphans. “This scholarship program is exemplary, and we hope that more companies from the private sector come forward with similar initiatives to contribute to the Society,” he said. Since its inception in 1999, Insan Charity Association has been dedicated to improving the welfare of orphans. The charity conducts a number of comprehensive programs that include education, training, social support, food, clothing, sports activities, Haj and Umra, scholarships, entertainment programs and employment schemes, besides offering monetary assistance to needy orphan children. The Society, which has eight branches in different parts of the Kingdom, is currently offering services to more than 32,000 orphans and widows. “Insan has been dedicated to providing its services to all orphans in need, and we are delighted to partner with Gulf Capital and Ma'arif to educate our eight students in one of the most prestigious schools in the Kingdom,” said Al-Yousuf. Gulf Capital and Ma'arif have joined hands to offer a full tuition scholarship for three academic years for Saudi students enrolled at Insan. The scholarship candidates were identified based on merit. The students enrolled in Manarat Al-Riyadh Schools, owned by Ma'arif, will be granted full tuition fees in addition to transportation, books and educational materials. Dr. Karim El-Solh, Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Capital, said the company's Board of Directors has decided to launch a CSR program to help improve the quality of life of the underprivileged. “We are proud to partner with Ma'arif and Insan to support the education of Saudi youth in the Kingdom,” he said.
