Sheikh Dr. Muhammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, the Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL), an intellectual umbrella of all Muslim countries, confirmed the keenness of his organization on the real fact of Islam, its noble principles, moderation and confrontation of violence, extremism and terror. Addressing the opening of the International Conference for Islamic Universities, organized by MWL in collaboration with Jakarta-based Indonesian Al-Azhar university, Dr. Al-Issa thanked the Indonesian authorities for the facilities they offered to organize this event, held under the theme "Islamic universities: role and responsibility: moderation challenges and securing the moderate thinking". A number of intellectuals also addressed the conference, which was attended by Indonesia's minister of religious affairs Luqman Hakim Saifuldeen; Vice Speaker of Indonesian Popular Shura Council Mohammed Hidayat Noor Wahid; Rector of Al-Azhar university of Indonesia Dr. Ahmed Hussein Lobus; General President of the Association of Indonesia's intellectuals Dr. Jamli Al-Siddiqi; Governor of Jakarta Anis Baswedan, who is also former minister of education; Mohammed Deen Shamseddin, Head of the Mohammani association; and a number of Ulemas, researchers, and university professors from inside and outside Indonesia.
