Exposure to direct sunlight during summer days may cause skin cancer (melanoma), the Ministry of Health has warned. The ministry has released an infographic to create awareness of the harmful effects of sun rays, including the risk of skin cancer, skin wrinkles, pigmentation, eye-related problems such as cataract, sun burn and skin dryness. The ministry has stressed the need to be cautious and take the necessary preventive measures when out in the sun. It advised people against going out from 11 am and 3 pm, and to use an umbrella or a headgear, wear sunglasses and full-length clothing to protect the body, and drink plenty of fluids.
