Police in Nairiya, Eastern Province, have arrested a young Saudi for stabbing his 30-year-old sister to death. Col. Ziad Al-Ruqaiti, spokesman for the Eastern Province Police, said the local Nairiya police had received a call at 5 am on July 3 from a 20-year-old Saudi youth confessing to stabbing his elder sister with a sharp tool over a dispute. On arrival at the scene, the police arrested the brother and rushed the wounded sister to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Investigation was ongoing prior to referral of the case and the offender to the prosecution bodies. Meanwhile, security authorities in the Asir region are investigating the death of a woman who committed suicide by drowning herself in a water tank in the Mahayel governorate Tuesday. The family of the deceased pulled her body from the tank and took it to the Mahayel General Hospital for an autopsy. The 58-year-old woman suffered mental illness, as confirmed by medical reports. She had attempted suicide in the same tank several times in the past. No foul play was suspected as the body carried no visible injuries or wounds, according to sources.
