None of the Arab and Gulf states has any desire to see their ties with Qatar ruptured. Each and every of these countries is a strong advocate of solidarity, which is crucial to face the numerous challenges before the Arab world. Least did they expect that one in their very fold would backstab them even as it pledged friendship. However, the Gulf countries will do their utmost to see the crisis behind them at the earliest. Being a GCC member country, Qatar should be well aware of the group's guiding principles. It is also aware of its obligations towards its brethren. It is important for Qatar to adhere to these principles before any reconciliatory steps can be taken in the interest of regional solidarity. From the look of it, Qatar's decision-making process has been hijacked from within to harm the country's interests. Qatar has been blinded by elements that thrive on fuelling regional disturbances. There are scores of terrorist organizations and their representatives in Qatar where they hold shadow positions in high places. They are huge beneficiaries of Qatar's wealth and run the country's state of affairs with their own destructive ideas. Qatar's defiant stand in support of terrorist organizations eventually reached such a stage that there was simply no room for any more patience. Relations were snapped as national security is paramount to any country. For harmony to prevail, Qatar needs to immediately expel the terrorist elements it is currently harboring. These elements have conditioned the Qatari brain to think as they do and as they want. But the Qataris know well that their future lies with the Arab and Gulf countries. Any alternative path it may be seeking to adopt will only prove disastrous to its interests.
