A security man of the Saudi Special Emergency Forces was killed in Al-Masoura district in Al-Awamiya town, Qatif, when his patrol car was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade Monday night, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry said. The spokesman said that Waleed Al-Shaibani was killed, and five other security men were injured in the attack. On May 10, a two-year-old child and a Pakistani man were killed, and 10 others were injured when gunmen opened fire indiscriminately on passersby and workers of a company contracted for the development of the old district. The gunmen also targeted the project's vehicles and equipment with explosives. Terrorists, arms traffickers and drug peddlers were trying to jeopardize the redevelopment projects and shield their terrorist activities that they carry out from the district's abandoned houses. The Ministry said the use of grenades, other explosive devices, and landmines to obstruct the development project was clear evidence of the dangers posed by the terrorists. The perpetrators of these acts were being instigated by foreign elements and will go to any extreme to achieve their evil designs, irrespective of the loss to life and property. The Ministry said the security forces will continue to carry out their duties of tracking down these terrorist elements. They will be ahead of them and foil their plots that are only aimed at undermining the Kingdom's security and stability.
