Security authorities in the Eastern Province killed a wanted terrorist in an exchange of fire in Al-Awwamiya on Saturday. An Interior Ministry spokesman said the security forces came under heavy gunfire when they were investigating abandoned houses, looking for wanted terrorists. The houses in the neighborhood had been evacuated some time back to give way to a project in Al-Mossorah, which is part Al-Awwamiya. The terrorist, Waleed Talal Ali Al-Areed, whose name was on the Ministry's wanted list, was injured in the shootout, and later succumbed to his injures. The Ministry stressed that the security agencies will continue to track down all wanted persons from their hideouts. It will ensure everyone's safety and safeguard public and private properties, including the development projects in Awwamiya . The Ministry appreciated the continued cooperation of the citizens and expatriates in Qatif in eliminating all those who seek to undermine the Kingdom's security and stability.
