It was a sad day for the world when news of yet another Paris terror attack unfolded just a few days ago. But it is indeed baffling how some vested interests seek to fish in trouble waters and swim against public opinion. Iran is a case in point, and so also are extreme right wingers in France, such as Marine Le Pen and François Fillon. Tehran, a master at deception, has attributed the cause of such incidents in European countries to "Western support for criminal terrorists." It takes this bizarre conspiracy theory even further by saying that the terrorists are emboldened by the West and its "double standards" in dealing with terrorism. In effect, Iran is justifying terrorism. It is blaming the world for such acts of terror when it is well known that the regime has been a keen supporter of global terrorist groups. Tehran has hosted and trained scores of ruthless assassins, passing on its gory skill of committing murder and spreading mayhem in the region. It sees itself as the righteous participant and paints the rest of the world as the villain. It is unfortunate that groups within France are also seeking to exploit the tragedy by politicizing the incident and hitting out at the present government in Paris. While Le Pen played her signature anti-immigrant tune, Fillon promised to recruit an additional 1,000 policemen if he wins the elections. Such Machiavellian positions adopted by various groups are not helping in efforts to eradicate terrorism in any way. There is no justification whatsoever in justifying acts of terror. Killing of innocents is unacceptable through whatever prism one may see it. Any tendency towards violating moral standards will only undermine global efforts to eliminate terrorism and end the resultant human sufferings once and for all.
