The Muslim World League organized the Conference of "Social Coexistence and Diversity of Religions" in Durban, South Africa and was attended by the son of the South African President Mr. Edward Zuma, Head of Interreligious Affairs at the C.M., Mayor of Durban and a large gathering of scientists, thinkers, clerics and representatives of many international organizations. Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, SG of MWL said in his opening speech that Coexistence within diverse religions is a need and a must to prevent the negative results and effects of the opposite of not which is as we all know extremism leading at the end to terrorism. Dr. Al-Issa pointed out that international gatherings and conferences such as this with the presence of different kinds of religious backgrounds people is what the global community should or even better must be concerned on to avoid by simple and clear clarifications any negative consequences may occur as a result of Lack of understanding and refusal to coexist with others. The Secretary General of the Muslim World League explained also how the religious and intellectual closure would certainly create hatred, extremism and terrorism. This closed-minded way of living and the refusal of others is against the existence of difference, diversity and pluralism. Sheikh Muhammad said also that Islam a religion of tolerance and moderation which coexistence with all kind of diversity and respect humanity at all without releasing any irrational judgments on any one just depending on his background religion, race or whatever. Dr. Muhammad confirmed in his speech that the main role of the Muslim World League is to promote and consolidate these basic values of real Islam. On other side and among his visit to South Africa, Sheikh Muhammad in the presence of Mr. Edward Zuma, they laid the foundation stone for the expansion of the International Islamic Relief Clinic of the Islamic World Eye Association in Durban City, the construction of a school in Baderbaan, and the drilling of some wells in the village. He also visited the Al Noor Center for the Blind in Durban and the Abu Darda Islamic Center where he met with officials, professors and students and listened to an extensive explanation of each center and its plans.
