The value of customs revenues during the fourth quarter of 2016 reached SR 6.8 billion riyals, while the total value of imports amounted to SR 126 billion, according to a report issued by the Customs Department for the period September 1 to December 31, 2016. The report said the value of exports during the same period amounted to SR 39.5 billion. The statistics further revealed that more than 41 million units of counterfeit material, worth more than SR 311 million were seized during the fourth quarter of 2016. More than 19 million units were rejected for non-compliance with the set specifications and standards. The report also said the total amount of cash and precious metals, which were declared during this period, had reached more than SR 34 billion, and the number of vehicles entering and leaving through the customs ports during the same period had reached more than 5 million. Moreover, 76 kg of narcotic substances were seized during the period, while more than 15 million narcotic pills and 97,000 bottles of liquor were confiscated.
