The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud patronized here yesterday, celebration of King Abdulaziz University on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its founding, at the premises of the university, in Jeddah. Upon arrival of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, at King Faisal Conference Center, accompanied by Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, Prince Ahmad bin Fahd bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and Prince Naif bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the King was received by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, the Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Governor of Makkah Region, Prince Mishaal bin Majed bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Jeddah Governorate, the Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed Al-Essa, the Acting Director of King Abdulaziz the University Dr. Abdul Rahman Alyoubi and the university senior staff. Then, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques toured an exhibition made on this occasion, where he was briefed on historical and modern images, telling the march of the university, since the beginning until now and its future projects. Following that a photo call has taken place, depicting the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques with the director of the university and the senior staff, ushering in the beginning of the ceremony, by reciting verses from the Holy Quran. Then, Acting Director of King Abdulaziz University Dr. Abdulrahman Alyoubi delivered a welcoming speech in which he reviewed the achievements of the university. Afterwards, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the audience watched a documentary on the university. Afterwards, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud launched the third phase of the university's expansion projects at a total cost of 5.5 billion riyals. This phase includes the university city students, buildings for the preparatory year students, sports village and housing staff building and other buildings for the university branch in Rabegh. Then, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques laid the foundation stone for a number of university projects at a cost of more than six billion riyals. Afterwards, Minister of Education Ahmad Alisa delivered a welcoming speech in which he lauded the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for this celebration and highlighted the great care given by the leaders of the kingdom to the education sector. Then, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques delivered a speech in which he underlined that the country has been built on the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, peace be upon him, and on this basis, focused on science and scientists in the belief that this is the basis of development, progress and the way to reach the ranks of developed countries, adding that "this is the focus of our attention and our commitment personally, and we look forward to our universities' continuing support for development plans through the rehabilitation and development of human capacities and through specialized research and scientific studies, in accordance with the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030, which we have announced recently." Then, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud received the certificate of honorary doctorate from King Abdulaziz University in the field of "promotion of Islamic unity." The event was attended by a number of princes and senior officials.
