Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met here yesterday with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Austria Sebastian Kurz. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of developing them. They also discussed the key issues of common interest. Earlier, Al-Jubeir arrived in the capital Vienna today on an official visit. In a press statement following the meeting, Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir has lauded the results of his meeting with the Austrian foreign minister in addition to the distinguished relations between the two countries, pointing out that he discussed with his Austrian counterpart issues of the region, particularly the Syrian crisis and how to find a peaceful solution of the crisis. Al-Jubeir stressed the Kingdom's firm stance regarding the Syrian crisis and its keenness on the unity of Syria and preservation of the state institutions in addition to halting fighting and working to build Syria's future without Bashar Al-Assad. Regarding his meetings with the foreign ministers of Russia, Turkey and the United States, Al-Jubeir disclosed that the aim of this meeting is to consulate, coordinate and discuss how to reach a peaceful solution in Syria as soon as possible on the basis of the Geneva 1 regarding establishment of transitional governing body with full executive powers and departure of Bashar Al-Assad in addition to declaration of a new constitution in Syria and holding new elections while maintaining the unity of Syria and its institutions. The foreign minister confirmed that he and his western counterparts seek to find a solution in Syria, stressing that the elimination of ISIS is based on removal of Al-Assad regime because it brings foreign fighters to join the ISIS as well as it is the cause of the spread of the ISIS and terrorism.
