Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, patronized a workshop on enhancing the civilizational dimension of the Kingdom in education and media, organized by his organization in Riyadh yesterday in cooperation with the ministries of education and culture and information, the follow-up of Dr. Azzam Al-Dakheel, Minister of education, and Dr. Adel Altoraifi, the Minister of Culture and Information, the effective participation of King Abdulaziz Center for Archive and King Abdulaziz Center for national Dialogue and Education Evaluation Commission. Addressing the event, Prince Sultan bin Salman said enhancement of citizenship and the feelings of national belongingness in the souls of nationals is a basic issue, noting that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has always shown interest in history and legacy. He said the heritage on which the Kingdom is based on is mostly Islamic and that the history of the Arab peninsula should be seen from this perspective. He said history of our area should stop, to carefully read and derive lessons, at the station of the constitution of this new nation which assembled all the factors and dimensions of the past and drew visions for the future. He lauded the recent interest of the State of its country's heritage and past, particularly antiquities and historical sites. He drew the attention to the link between the work of his organization, tourism, and history. The participants in the workshop, then, reviewed the role to be played by the ministries of education and culture and information in enhancing the civilizational aspect of the Kingdom in the educational curricula as well as the cultural and information programs. The workshop comes within the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Program Caring of the Kingdom's Civilizational Heritage.
