The wholesale price index for January 2015 rose by 0.7%, compared to its counterpart at the same period of 2014 as a result of the changes witnessed by the major sections consisting the index of wholesale prices. In its monthly report to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Central Department of Statistics and Information (CDSI) indicated that the sector of miscellaneous manufactured goods rose by 3.4%, followed by the sector of food and live animals by 2.5%, then the sector of beverages and tobacco by 2.4% and the sector of chemicals and related products by 2.2%. On the other hand, the sector of other goods witnessed a decline by 2.3%, the sector of machinery and transport equipment by 1.4% and the sector of manufactured goods classified by material by 1.2%, then the sector of animal and vegetable oils and fats by 1.1%, while the sector of raw materials except fuels and the sector of metal fuels and related products remained at their previous level each with no change. Moreover, the wholesale price index for January 2015 registered 159.4 points compared to 159.2 points in December 2014, up by 0.1%. The CDSI attributed this rise to changes witnessed by the main sections consisting the index for wholesale prices; the sector of other goods by 7.4%, followed by the sector of miscellaneous manufactured goods by 1.4%, the sector of beverages and tobacco by 1.1%, the sector of animal and vegetable oils and fats by 1.1% and the sector of chemicals and related products by 0.7%. The sector of raw materials except fuel registered an increase of 0.5% and the sector of food and live animals by 0.1%. The sector of machinery and transport equipment declined by 0.7% and the sector of manufactured goods classified by material by 0.4%, while the index of the mineral fuels and related products sector remained at its previous level with no change.
