Ayoon Wa Azan (Pending the Formation of the Terrorists' Government)
Published in AL HAYAT on 05 - 03 - 2013

With the continued Israeli cabinet crisis, I read in the Israeli press articles proposing holding new elections that would result in clear winners and losers. Today, I will examine for the readers the view from Israel.
Benjamin Netanyahu was given two more weeks by President Shimon Peres to form a new Israeli government, and observers believe this should happen within days, and a cabinet comprising the Likud-Beiteinu alliance, Yesh Atid, Jewish Home, Hatnuah, and Kadima will be formed.
The Israeli prime minister wanted to return to his old alliance with the Jewish religious parties – with whom peace is impossible – but he failed given the success of Yesh Atid, led by TV star Yair Lapid, and the rise of the Jewish Home party led by American immigrant Naftali Bennett.
Netanyahu tried to split these two parties, but he discovered that there is a strong personal relationship between Lapid and Benett, so he chose to deal with them in the end. But he soon found himself facing another crisis because Lapid explicitly stated that he would succeed Netanyahu as prime minister after the next general election. Lapid is currently seeking the post of foreign minister, which would allow him to gain additional popularity with the limelight the post gives him. For this reason, Netanyahu finds himself in a position where he needs Lapid but does not want him.
If new elections were to be held, then every poll shows Lapid's party would win 29 to 30 seats, while Bennett's party would retain its 12 seats and perhaps win a seat or two more. Both parties reject any compromise with the Haredim, or the Eastern Orthodox Jews, even if this were to lead to new elections.
They both want to extend compulsory military service to the members of Haredi parties, instead of them living on state handouts on the pretext of their religious studies. This often results in them engaging in extremist-criminal policies, while leaving other Israelis to fight and die for their state.
Meanwhile, the Moldovan brothel bouncer Avigdor Lieberman resigned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the weight of a persistent personal scandal. Recently, he made statements against Iran following the meeting between the later and the P5+1 countries in Kazakhstan, and the subsequent agreement between the two sides to meet again in Istanbul before returning to Kazakhstan.
Lieberman said that the enlightened world doesn't want to confront extremism, which is true because, if the enlightened world – of which Israel is not part – were to confront extremism, it would have started with Israel, the last remaining apartheid in the world that occupies Palestinian land and murders women and children.
On a different note, Hamas asked President Barack Obama not to visit the Haram al-Sharif if he visits Israel on the 20th of this month as planned. But the Israeli press reported that Hamas asked Obama not to visit the “Temple Mount," which is another myth of the Torah as the alleged mount is actually a hill and there is no trace of a temple there whatsoever. The first government of Yitzhak Rabin had dug the site in the early ‘80s, and found only traces of an Umayyad castle.
All the prophets of the Torah are mythical, and there are no traces of them on the ground. I do not understand how there could be [Jewish] kingdoms and kings when there are no traces in our countries of any of their royal palaces, temples or large administrative buildings of their erstwhile state.
Against this backdrop, Israeli extremist groups are threatening to meet Barack Obama on his visit to Israel with protests comprising thousands of criminals who occupied Palestinian land, to demand the release of Jonathan Pollard.
Pollard is an American who was convicted of spying for Israel, after betraying his country and stealing thousands of classified documents, which he then handed over to another spy at the Israeli embassy in Washington. The latter had diplomatic status which gave him immunity from prosecution.
They are all spies, whether they were convicted or not, or only have the intention of spying, and biting the American hand that feeds them.
