Mouthpieces That Have no Shame
Published in AL HAYAT on 26 - 06 - 2012

I used to think that the Lebanese and Syrian mouthpieces defending Bashar al-Assad and his regime's crimes will have some shame and disappear, or at least become embarrassed following the massacres and slaughters committed by the regime's troops in the Syrian towns and cities, the last of which were Houla, Quabair and Al-Haffa. But as they say, the prudish no longer exist. I was hoping to see these mouthpieces that are spiteful toward the free and honorable Syrians, awaken from their hibernation, stay quiet, or abstain from issuing any talk and getting psychological treatment to cure their spite, instead of justifying the horrific crimes of the regime. But it seems that the latter sickening individuals, who were falsely dubbed “journalists" or “political analysts," are still adopting lies without feeling any shame and without their hearts and humanity being affected by the horrendous scenes and the terrible crimes, from the killing of mothers to the raping of daughters, the slaughtering of children, and the sight of corpses and limbs.
Last week, I watched a Syrian satellite channel to see the extent of the change on the faces of the anchors of this pro-thuggery channel following the recent crimes. The anchorwoman was smiling while asking questions to a lying evil Lebanese mouthpiece who deserves to be punished for continuing to justify the crimes of the regime under the pretext of regaining security from the armed terrorists. He abruptly decided that Syria will become a global superpower which – along with its allies – will control the region and Asia, based on scenarios that only he can see. This lunatic said that Russia, China, Iran and Syria will dominate the Asian continent, in the face of America's and Europe's hegemony over the African continent via an agreement between the superpowers. He indicated that Syria alone – under Al-Assad's command – will become a strong Arab power in the region, taken into account by all, adding that the division of the Asian and African “pie" between the major states was being agreed on, that Saudi Arabia will be prevented from dispatching suicide-bombers to Syria and from interfering in Arab affairs, and that the Muslim Brotherhood will gain control over Egypt.
Despite all the analyses and threats made by those liars in an attempt to cover up the sun with a screen while completely disregarding the regime's crimes, the proud Syrian people will win, and reach freedom despite the sorrow, blood, limbs and abstinence of the world from supporting them.
The Syrian people will not back down and will not kneel before the regime of the thugs, as long as there is one child alive. Vengeance does not die and the free Syrian blood that was spilt is boiling in each and every home. The Syrians defied the gangs of thuggery and the barking supporters. The free among the women, men and children defied gunpowder, cold and slaughter. The Syrians defied the tanks, aircrafts, bombardment, the threats of the regime, the intimidation and the torture, and overcame massacres through steadfastness and the registering of victories to ensure freedom, justice and dignity. On the other hand, Iran on which Al-Assad's mouthpieces are relying cannot even help itself, and its engines have collapsed after its intentions and plans were uncovered. In the meantime, the West is besieging it with sanctions and it is offering secret concessions in deals going against it. The only thing Iran can do to help Al-Assad's regime is maneuver and try and change its approach to play a role that would protect its interests in the new Syria, even if via an alternative plan, as it is aware of the size of the predicament it is facing following the exposure of its hatred toward the Arab populations. As to Russia, it will not sustain this political nonsense and the defense of Bashar al-Assad forever, and once the opposition tightens its grip over important Syrian regions, it will change its position.
Nevertheless, the biggest flaw resides in the submissive and non-unified Arab states at the level of their decisions and vision. They include some who are distancing themselves from the entire situation, while watching the massacres on their border and failing to act to protect the oppressed. I thus hope that the Arab populations do not place much hope on American-Russian contacts to bridge the gap between them over the resolution of the Syrian crisis. The Arab states should rather find common grounds, based on which Moscow would relinquish Al-Assad's support, or the Arab League should call for the severance of the relations with Moscow, the closing of its embassies and the ousting of its diplomats, since the Syrians' lives are not cheap so that they are cheapened by the Russians. This is especially true after the head of the United Nations observers' mission to Syria, General Robert Mood, depicted a bleak image of the situation, shedding light on the scale of the massacres, the killing of children, their torturing and rape along with their mothers and sisters in a brutal and disgusting way. Moreover, Human Rights Watch accused Al-Assad's troops of using rape and other forms of sexual violence against men, women and children during the uprising, in order to humiliate and belittle them. In the meantime, all the recent reports assured that the regime's troops were carrying out liquidations and crimes against humanity.
The mission is neither difficult nor strenuous once there is an Arab or international will, but stalling and narrow calculations are obstructing it. In addition, the Free Army should be supported and armed in public, so that injustice is not extended and so that Syria is liberated from the grip of the murderers, in parallel to the collapse of the tyrants.
What is certain is that the noose is growing close to the necks of the tyrants and that the Syrian people will reach freedom. As to the enemies of truth, the lying mouthpieces and the carriers of foolish dreams supporting the practices of Al-Assad's regime, they will fail and take their last breaths on the street pavements after being rejected by the people with the fall of the regime. The Western press is pointing to the fact that the regime's collapse has become imminent, that its grip will not be maintained, and that the pilot who fled with his aircraft to Jordan will be followed by others. The Syrians will thus etch a new history and a revolution fueled by the blood of women and children.
