The value of Saudi Arabia's nonoil exports rose by 31 percent to SR 176.57 billion in 2011 compared to the previous year when the amount was SR 134.61 billion, according to the Statistics Department. It said the total volume of exports reached 48.72 million tons in 2011 against 46.25 million tons in 2010, registering an increase of five percent. Petrochemicals topped the list of Saudi exports during the year, accounting for SR 60.95 billion or 34 percent of the total, followed by plastics SR 53.95 billion (31 percent), foodstuffs SR 12.61 billion (7 percent) and re-exports SR 24.38 billion, the Jeddah-based Arab News quoted the Department as disclosing in a report.
