Prince Turki bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, General President of the Meteorology and Environmental Protection and Chairman of the Islamic Executive Office of the Environment Ministers, has chaired the 5th Islamic Conference of Environment Ministers held in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan. During a speech he delivered before the 5th Islamic Conference of Environment Ministers, Prince Turki said that this conference became an effective tool of the Islamic joint action in the field of environmental protection, stressing the importance of the international concerted efforts in protecting environment and ensuring sustainability. The Environment Ministers of the 57 Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will discuss the draft updated version of the General Framework of the Islamic Agenda for Sustainable Development, the draft Executive Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Islamic Countries, and the draft Islamic Declaration on Sustainable Development within the framework of the Islamic world's participation in the Rio+20 Summit.
