The U.N. Security Council Thursday condemned the deadly suicide car bombings in Damascus that have reportedly killed 55 people and called on all parties to cease hostilities in line with council resolutions. The council "condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks that occurred in Damascus, Syria on 10 May, causing numerous deaths and injuries" and expressed sympathy and sincere condolences to the victims and their families. The 15-nation body also "called upon all parties in Syria immediately and comprehensively to implement all elements of the Joint Special Envoy six-point proposal, in conformity with resolutions 2042 and 2043, and in particular to cease all armed violence in all its forms."
