Member of Central Committee of Fatah and Head of the Palestinian delegation to the final status negotiations, Dr. Saeb Erekat said today that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is awaiting the Israeli government's response to his call for the resumption of final status negotiations on the basis of the commitment of the Israeli government to stopping settlement activity, including the occupied East Al-Quds (Jerusalem), accepting the principle of two states on the borders of 1967 and releasing the prisoners and detainees as the only way for the resumption of negotiations. With regard to the Palestinian reconciliation, Dr. Erekat said that reconciliation is a Palestinian high interest, stressing that the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is making every effort possible to overcome all the obstacles to reconciliation.
