The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the burning of books of jurisprudence of Imam Malik bin Anas by some extremists in Mauritania. In a statement issued today, OIC Secretariat-General denounced the act, stressing that it causes harm to the Islamic religion and its venerable scholars. OIC also called upon Mauritanian officials to punish those responsible for such a heinous act which can ignite sedition among the moderate Mauritanian society.
