An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale jolted the bordering region between China's northwestern Gansu province and northern Inner Mongolia autonomous region at 6:19 p.m. Thursday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center. The epicenter, with a depth of 8 km, was at 40.6 degrees north latitude and 98.6 degrees east longitude. It is not clear what damages the quake has caused, Xinhua reported.
