At least 16 passengers were killed Thursday and around two dozen injured in a bus accident in Pakistan's north-western province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, dpa quoted police as saying. The accident took place around 4 am (2300 GMT) when a bus carrying over 40 passengers overturned and fell into a gorge in the Koz Kamela area of the mountainous Kohistan district, around 200 kilometres north of the capital Islamabad. "We have pulled out 16 dead and over 20 injured from the wreckage of the vehicle," said Mujib ur Rehman, a police official. Two children and two women were among the dead, he said. Rehman said the death toll might rise as some of the victims were in critical condition. The bus was heading from garrison city of Rawalpindi to the northern city of Gilgit.
