The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani said that the Ministers of Interior of the GCC Member States appreciated the GCC leaders' approval of the call of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for the transition from cooperation stage to Union among the GCC countries. Dr. Al-Zayani said that the Ministers confirmed that the collective security among the GCC member states is an important requirement to maintain security and stability and to protect the achievements and gains made by the GCC member states through their blessed march of development. This came in a press statement made by the GCC Secretary General following the conclusion of the 13th consultative meeting of the GCC Ministers of Interior held in Riyadh this evening and chaired by the Crown Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior. "The GCC Interior Ministers reviewed in their meeting the latest regional and international developments and events and their impact on security and stability of the GCC member states, and expressed satisfaction with the level of existing cooperation in the march of their joint security to ensure the ability to deal with threats to security and stability of the GCC countries."
