At least 18 people were killed when two buses collided Sunday in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, police said. According to dpa, twenty-six passengers were injured when a state-run bus collided with a private bus near Gorakhpur city, about 260 kilometers east of state capital Lucknow. "The buses fell into a ditch after the head-on collision. Thirteen men, three women and two children were among the victims," police officer Ashutosh Kumar said over telephone. He said the death toll could rise since eight of the injured were in critical condition.
