The Grand Mufti of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and President of Council of Senior Scholars and General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh has described the kidnapping of Saudi Vice Consul in Aden by a deviant group as a great crime and a terrorist heinous act which is rejected by wisdom and logic, as well as Islamic Sharia which prohibits aggression and injustice in all its forms. In an address, the Grand Mufti said, "As the policies and orientations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stem from the teachings of Islam, and it applies Islamic Sharia in all walks of life; and applies the rulings of Islam, the Kingdom has been in the forefront of countries that have fought terrorism with all its capabilities at different levels in intellectual, security, and cultural spheres". He added, "The Kingdom's positions toward terrorism are clear, consistent and based on justice and equity and characterized by objectivity and transparency". He called on the kidnappers of the Saudi Vice Consul to stop this immoral, barbaric and inhumane act and behavior, release him, return back to their senses, and repent from these criminal acts that are banned by the Islamic Sharia. The Grand Mufti stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been keen on the safety of its citizens and missions abroad, and that it is making all (necessary) efforts to ensure their security and safety at home and abroad.
