The United States will provide an additional $8 million in humanitarian aid to the Syrian people, the State Department said Friday. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said the funds will bring the total U.S. humanitarian assistance for Syrians to $33 million. She said the money is going through United Nations agencies or U.N.-accredited humanitarian organizations. “We have very much been able to get to the people in need,” Nuland told reporters. Nuland said aid groups have been appealing for more money as they gain more access to the people, “which is why we keep giving more.”
