A five-member UN advance team on Wednesday visited areas on the outskirts of the capital Damascus, UN spokesman Khalid al Masri told dpa. According to activist Haytham al Abdallah the observers saw Syrian forces opening fire on anti-regime protesters in Arbeen, on the outskirts of Damascus. "The observers saw with their own eyes that tanks are still positioned in some areas, despite that the regime has hidden some of them before the arrival of the UN team," al-Abdallah told dpa.
